ith a Psalmist style , Naomi Joy graces audiences with instrumental music as a saxophonist , vocalist , and inspirational speaker . She is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Florida A & M University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education . She is highly sought out for music ministry and entertainment and is a Performing Artist at the Orlando International Airport for My HomeTown Entertainment where she performs as a solo artist .

Naomi has performed at numerous venues including the Orlando Citrus Club and at the 2017 Orlando Jazz Festival at the Dr . Phillips Performing Arts Center . She has also played saxophone for local ministries in the Orlando , Florida area to include

World Outreach Center-Benny Hinn Ministries , Faith World-Clint Brown , Church in the Son-Alex Clattenburg , as well as many other ministries , special events , and recordings . She recently became a 2020 Bari Woodwinds Endorsed Artist as well as an author of her 1st Book : “ My Joy Journey ”.

What would you define as a woman warrior ? To me , a Woman Warrior is a woman who defies the odds and does the impossible . In my opinion , every woman who has experienced a delivery of a baby is a Warrior . Women who have miscarried children and kept trying to conceive are warriors to me . Women who accomplish great tasks and become trailblazers for others are also warriors . I describe it best in poetry :

I love the stamina and fight of a woman . She can bear children , she can birth children . She can mother children that are not her own . She brings forth good fruit and replenishes the earth . She is the embodiment of strength and versatility . When embraced and encouraged , she can bloom into whatever seasonal color is needed . She is transformational . She is more than a conqueror . She doesn ’ t lose . She keeps trying . There is no defeat in her future-only another day to fight again . The fight may have been won by a man , but she knows her strength . Her battle is feminine . Her quest is harder . Her journey is long . She is a Woman Warrior . This very womanhood has made her strong .

What obstacles did you overcome to get to where you are today ? The obstacles that I have had to overcome are sexual harassment , discrimination , and divorce . These were the trials of life as we so often call them . They made me stronger . The truth is . I was already strong . I ’ ve been strong in my faith since I was a child . The trials that I experienced were to discourage my strength . It has only created a bigger fight in me . It ’ s given me a defiance . A boldness . A self-made attitude . Shirley Chrisholm , the 1st Black Woman to serve in Congress in the United States and the 1st African American woman candidate to run for the presidency coined it in her presidential campaign : “ Unbought and Unbossed ”. The things that are meant to deter and discourage you , can embolden you to rise above the fray , declare your victory and pave your own lane .

What are your current endeavors and future goals ? My current endeavors are to continue to teach music full time as an Orange County Public Schools Orchestra & Band Director , continue writing & composing books and poetry , to record a few more singles and complete an Instrumental Album on Saxophone . My future goals are to incorporate my gifts and skills into a press and / or broadcast media as well as an outreach to educate and empower others .
