I
Jennifer Yon and
her Father
experienced my most devastating loss
at the top of 2019 and it continues to af-
fect me daily. On January 28 th I lost my
Dad to cancer. And although I knew his
time was near, it didn’t make his passing
any easier. I remember waking to find my
Mom holding his hand. When she told me
he was gone, I will never forget the sudden
feeling of overwhelming sadness. The grief
that settled into my heart that day remains,
but I actively work toward recovery. Heal-
ing is an ongoing process made possible
thanks to God's strength coupled with fam-
ily, friends, supporters, readers, fans, clients
and my wonderful team! I shed a tear for
his loss daily, but in between my tears I re-
member the hours of laughter he created
along with his words of wisdom.
There were days when I wanted to quit, give
up, let everything go and walk away from
my dreams. It was on those days when I
would walk into my dad’s room, kiss him on
his forehead before I pulled myself togeth-
er to leave the house. It wasn’t unusual for
me to work from sun-up to sun-down with
doctors’ appointments, board meetings,
magazine appointments and giving back.
My days were, and continue to be, over-
flowing. There were days he would sense
my weakness, my frailness and say, “You
better go get it; you make me proud”. As if
his words were the gas in my tank, my spirit
was buoyed to make it just a little further.
As we prepare to close out 2019 and cre-
ate pathways into 2020, I want to share two
of the many things that my Dad taught me
to believe.
1. It is imperative to reflect on your own
purpose and have a good understand-
ing of why you do what you do.
2. Maintaining your health is a must. Your
health is your wealth.
IBA is deeply personal for me and with
each publication I release, it embodies a
different level of growth within me. As an
elementary school student, I remember say-
ing I would own a magazine one day and I
remember creating little booklets the size of
a JET Magazine because that was my inspi-
ration and DREAM.
As I grew older, I learned who Oprah was
when I was watched her show and she pro-
moted businesses by sharing her favorite
things. She gifted everyone in the audi-
ence with cars one year. Her benevolence
reverberated on news stations everywhere.
I remember hearing about “The Oprah Ef-
fect” which caused websites to crash from
the sheer volume of consumers who want-
ed to buy something Oprah promoted.
I would follow some of the businesses to
track their journey after they were featured
because that was exciting and motivating
to me and I wanted in. It’s an amazing feel-
ing to sit on the front row and watch the
success of others! I desired to have the
same effect so I positioned myself to pro-
vide a platform that would educate, em-
power and promote others—IBA Success
Magazine, “A Lifestyle Entrepreneur Publi-
cation”, aimed to promote, empower and
educate worldwide, not just a magazine, an
advertising campaign.
As a single mom at 16, I struggled to pro-
vide for my daughter. But once I allowed
myself to understand the power of invest-
ment, reading and focusing on the end
goal, my mindset changed, my motivation
changed, my life changed one day at a
time, and God is not done with me yet!
While my father prompts my spirit, my
mother continues to be my best earthly
example. She’s a go-getter, a motivator, a
role model of saying yes now and invest
the time into learning to get the job done.
It’s how I was raised and I am blessed to
still be motivated by her. She always said
create multiple streams of income which I
believe I have mastered, especially when it
is aligned with my passion. Turning Passion
Into Profits is a phrase I live by.
In closing, you must,
• Know what excites you! Follow your
passion and purpose and the profits
will come. Be patient. Trust the process
and accept failure and learn from it.
Don’t wallow in it.
• Be honest with yourself and allow per-
sonal development to shape your
character. Listen to your inner soul and
trust yourself. Fall in love with yourself.
Get to know what you love, and others
will love you!
Because of what I’ve learned this year in life
and in business, welcome to the Health &
Wealth Edition 2019. This edition is packed
with health-related educational content,
income opportunities to create wealth and
multiple streams of income, inspiring sto-
ries, products you may just want to try or
services that you may be in the market for
and so much more. I hope you enjoy this
edition as much as I enjoyed creating it.
This one’s for you Daddy—Rest in Peace &
Happy Birthday!
